At our events we have differents classes that your ensemble can participate in according to your level and needs.

All ensembles that incorporate music and/or movement are eligible for participation.

In the competition classes ensembles will be divided according their primary focus:

  • Movement - dance, color guard, twirling etc

  • Percussion - marching percussion, concert percussion etc

  • Winds - brass, woodwinds, etc

All instruments including string instruments and the human voice are allowed.

junior class

The Junior Class is designed for younger performers and has an age limit of 16 years.

The total performance time must be between 4 and 6 minutes.

Here is where the beginner (Junior) marching and concert ensembles explore new challenges through performance and realizes a greater sense of achievement as each more complex skill is learned. 

Junior Class units can compete either perform marching or in a concert formation. Judges will adapt captions to concert (2 captions: Ensemble Music and General Effect) or marching (3 captions: Ensemble Music, General Effect and Ensemble Visual)

a class

A Class ensembles have some experience in the performance arena. The total performance time must be between 4 and 6 minutes.

The A Class is for groups that are starting to explore movement with music. The focus is learning the basic skills and to experience new challenges through performance.
This is ‘the Start-Up Class’ for marching and movement ensembles.

open class

Open Class ensembles are experienced in the performance arena. The total performance time must be between 4 and 7 minutes.

Programs are unique and innovative and these components are important at this level. Some very sophisticated challenges will be placed on the performers.

concert class

This class is designed for those groups whose single emphasis is the exploration and development of musical presentations. The total performance time must be between 4 and 8 minutes.

One non-student conductor is allowed in the concert classes only. This is not a marching class. Credit will be given for musical elements only.

exhibition

In Exhibition groups get the opportunity to perform outside of competition.
The performance can still be evaluated to help the group’s progress.
